STHULAM VYAYAM (STHU-LAM)- In yoga and associated ways of life, there before going to subtler practices we start with sthula vyayams to stregthen and stablise the body. Sthula vyayams, it is to be noted that are done from lower portions of the body to upper body hence its connetion with LAM() and Muladhara chakra() vis a vis Suksham vyayamas which is connected to SHAM- sound for relaxing -> withdrawing from outer. It is also called Shithilikarana vyayama as it makes the body supple enough to use the subsequent sukshma vyayamas to exercise and declutter various nadi pathways.
