SURYA NAMASKARA: DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES FROM DIFFERENT GURUS
Surya namaskara is said to be invented by Hanuman who as a child couldn't get a guru and hence was advised by a sage to take sun as his guru. Hence I feel Surya namaskara should be done as salutation to Hanuman and also Surya. So we can use Hanuman chalisa and then Surya namaskar mantras.
In modern times, different gurus are teaching different versions of this most common yoga sequence called surya namaskara and each can be seen to be different resulting in corresponding nervous configurations of a person.
(1) ISHA SURYA NAMASKAR
General advice: Meditation must be done in sitting posture at least for the first 2-3 years by any practioner. Asanas must be used for physical benefits only initial years of a sadhak. To eat food better, to have sex better, to work better and efficiently, to achieve better, to love better, to have better sidhis, to think and have better intellectual capabilties, etc. IF needed only then should meditation be done in non-sitting postures, because otherwise it may lead to disorientation and imbalance in the body-mind due to non-introduction of complimentary poses by a wise-man, which greedy people looking to monetise everything, will want to capitalise and monetise on leading to unseen sufferings by the poor soul.
Here 3 versions of surya namaskara is taught: surya namaskar, surya shakti and surya kriya.
Surya namaskar:
Given the least respect by the top brass of the organisation.
Surya shakti
Initially gives the feel of energizing but soon one recognizes the flaw in the sequence which can cause weakening of our manipura, causing deterioration in self confidence and core strength and working ability.
The noted flaw: The jump must not be made to the front instead use hands to move backward till you reach near feet and then come up, this can cause better to manipuraka
Surya kriya:
Good to have the timing of 3-5-7.
Flaw: Ending with left foot to the front may cause weakening of left foot, and many obstcles in daily life hence the saying that one must place your right foot forward,

Gurudev sri sri Ravi shankar ji teaches a good surya namaskar version.
(3) RAMAKRISHNA-VIVEKANANDA SURYA NAMASKAR
This variation can be considered as least vested interest as of now and can be used to karma kaushalam.
